Solution: name it the Colin Thomas COTY Trophy and give it to someone else 😂
Voting for Coach of the Year in AZHSFB is tough because you could give it to Colin Thomas every year, and nobody would disagree with you.View quoted post on X

Utah / BYU coming down to the wire.
7 years ago BYU backup QB @treysonbourguet took on Utah starting QB @Devonddampier (before transferring to Saguaro) in the Open Division Playoffs- awesome to see how far they’ve come.

But some will say that because there’s no perfect system change is pointless 🤷♂️
And 4-6 team gets walloped by 5 TDs. Yes I’m still bitter 🤷🏾♂️View quoted post on X

From the AIA FAQ page
Football margin of victory is not a factor
There is no way to game the system by scheduling stronger opponents
Again, Corona (7-3) beat Boulder Creek (2-8) by 3 scores and they want you to know the system cannot be gamed 😂

The AIA just sent an email to statewide media regarding the final football rankings and MaxPreps’ formula:View quoted post on X
“Following an exciting conclusion to the football regular season for all conferences, the brackets are now live for the 6A and Open Divisions, and each of those teams are set to begin their playoff runs using a rankings formula maintained by MaxPreps that has been utilized all season.
The current version of the MaxPreps formula was new this year to the AIA and endorsed by football coaches from around the state.
Cumulative strength of schedule for the teams a school defeats during the season and the matchups between two higher-ranked teams at any point during the season are factors that are a part of the final outcome.
For more information, the following FAQ page breaks down some aspects of the formula, which is located on the football rankings page on AZPreps365.com.

The AIA wishes the teams now starting their postseason journeys, as well as the squads making their way through all postseason brackets, the best of luck.”
