Privacy
Twitxy is built to collect as little as possible. There are no accounts, no cookies for tracking, and no third-party scripts on any page.
What is stored
- In-memory caches. Public profile and post data is held in server memory for a few minutes so repeat visits are fast. It is discarded automatically.
- Rate-limit counters. Your IP address is used in memory to count requests per minute and is not written to disk or shared.
- Anonymous upstream tokens. When the logged-out HTML does not include a post, the server may request a short-lived guest token from X. It is not tied to an account, is kept in server memory, and is never sent to your browser.
- A theme preference. If you switch between light and dark, a single
themecookie remembers the choice for a year. It contains no identifier. - Saved accounts and posts. Items you save are kept in your browser’s local storage. They are never sent to this server and you can remove them at any time.
What is not collected
- No analytics, session recording, fingerprinting, or advertising identifiers.
- No accounts, passwords, or email addresses.
- No logs of which profiles or posts you read beyond what the host requires.
Third parties
Content is fetched from X, and media is fetched from X’s image and video hosts. Those requests come from this server, not from your browser. Older profile pages use X’s anonymous guest access, never a signed-in account. When you follow a “View on X” link you leave Twitxy and X’s own policies apply.
