Devcon is where you test the hard questions with the people who rely on the answers. For us, it’s also the best place to talk directly to everyone who runs the Nethermind Client.

Meet Nethermind @EFDevcon in Mumbai - booth on Level 3.

Our talks:
- Ben Adams: Could Ethereum support a billion validators, from phones to home devices?
- Lin Oshitani: Can an AI agent running in secure hardware act as an oracle, so a smart contract can verify where every answer came from?
- Eric Marti Haynes: Can tokenized assets be decentralized?
- Tomasz Stańczak with two talks about robotics and Ethereum.

“The most censorship-resistant network on Earth is already built: let’s use the billions of phones in everyone’s pockets.”

That’s our Principal Engineer @ben_a_adams at Devcon. Today, running an Ethereum validator means keeping a machine online around the clock. Ben proposes a design where a phone can be a validator too: it sleeps most of the day and does small checks when it wakes up.

The first test: a phone sleeps for a week, wakes up, catches up with the chain, does one job and goes back to sleep.

From real world receipts to real world rights.

Tokenized assets live onchain, but when the chain and the offchain register disagree, the register usually wins.

At Devcon, our Tokenization Tech Lead @ericmartihaynes scored today’s tokenized assets on CROPS: censorship resistance, open source, privacy and security. Then he designed a fund that scores higher, where Ethereum is the legal record and holders still get paid out if the issuer disappears.

Can a real world asset be CROPS aligned? Yes, as far as the state allows.

Blockchains are credible but not intelligent. Humans are intelligent but not credible.

At Devcon, our researcher @linoscope showed a way to get both. He built a prototype oracle that runs an LLM inside a TEE: the model answers the question, and the contract checks the TEE’s proof before it accepts the answer.

Most smart contracts today act on numbers a data feed can report, like prices. An oracle like this could let them act on any question you can phrase, like whether a flight left on time or a GitHub PR meets a bounty’s conditions.
