🚀 WHO Updates TB Diagnostic Guidelines to Expand Access to Testing!

The World Health Organization (@WHO) has published the second edition of its consolidated TB diagnosis guidelines, introducing new recommendations to improve access to rapid, accurate and affordable tuberculosis testing.

Key updates include:

🧬 Near-point-of-care molecular testing for TB detection at peripheral health facilities.
👅 Tongue swabs as an alternative for people unable to produce sputum.
🔬 Sputum pooling to improve testing efficiency and reduce costs in resource-constrained settings.
🌍 A new WHO living website providing updated information on recommended TB diagnostic products and their prequalification status.

These developments present important opportunities to strengthen laboratory systems, expand access to quality diagnostics and accelerate efforts to end TB, particularly across Africa.
