Huge thanks to the amazing multi-disciplinary team that pulled off this session with us today at CCC on better protecting all those providing patient care in the Cath lab! To hear united perspectives from nursing, EP, surgery, IC/Structural on this matter was so helpful and will be key as we tackle the policy updates we are actively working towards in Canada! #CCC2026

Personal lead protective gear and our positioning in the Cath lab put us at very real risk of orthopedic injury. I just shared my C-spine story at CRF Complications and at the CVI Fellows Bootcamp- we must raise awareness and advocate for change in our field to protect the Cath lab team as we work to help patients! Excellent alternative shielding systems exist and we all deserve to benefit from them. Let’s disseminate science, continue to innovate, improve access and work to universally change dated policies. I hope that myself and everyone will soon get out of lead (safely).

It was a special experience 4 months post-op for me, to be back and performing a live case at Centre Cardio-Thoracique de Monaco as part of the ‘World Cup’ edition of MLCTO representing Canada/North American Team #1 along with my friend Luiz Ybarra and the wonderful group from Monaco! Was interesting to ultimately treat the long segment of disease in this CTO LAD with imaging-guided scoring balloon and DCB without metal. Thanks so much to the organizers and to the Monaco group. @MLCTOAcademy
