Fiction offers us a powerful way to see the issues of our time through someone else’s eyes.

Aspen Words has announced the longlist for the 10th annual Aspen Words Literary Prize, a $35,000 award recognizing fiction that illuminates a vital contemporary issue.

The 2027 longlist brings together 14 works — 13 novels and one short story collection — including three debut voices. Congratulations to all the longlisted authors!

Finalists will be announced in March 2027, and the winner will be revealed on April 29, 2027, in New York City.
