We have some exciting news that could mean that researchers are able to make faster discoveries and develop better, more personalised treatments for patients.

We're investing in a major expansion of the Barts BioResource that will transform how health research is carried out in East London. It will give more patients across East London the chance to take part in groundbreaking health research.

By connecting biological samples with health information, researchers will be able to better understand how diseases develop, why they affect people differently and how to develop more personalised treatments.

And, as one of the most diverse places on the planet, East London is uniquely placed to make this possible. Our diverse communities have historically been underrepresented in medical research - and we have an opportunity to change that.

By making research part of everyday NHS care, the expanded BioResource could help future discoveries and treatments better reflect the people they're designed to help.

🏥 Last week, we were delighted to welcome @JamesFrith MP , Minister for Health Innovation to St Bartholomew's Hospital.

The visit came hot off the press as the Government announced that clinical trial delivery times have been cut by 35% - helping patients access potentially life-changing treatments sooner.

We're proud to be playing our part in making more clinical trials possible for patients across East London:

🔬 Supporting a new Clinical Research Facility at The Royal London Hospital, expanding opportunities for patients to access innovative treatments.
👩‍⚕️ £3.1m to support the Barts Clinical Trials Unit, helping researchers design and deliver studies that could transform healthcare.
💊 A new Clinical Trials Pharmacy at Newham Hospital, bringing more research opportunities for people living in and around Newham.
🎗️ £16.6m for the new Breast Cancer Centre, bringing research and treatment together to improve care.
