Why is Cardano’s consensus protocol called Ouroboros?

It’s named after the ancient symbol of a serpent eating its own tail: a cycle that never ends. The chain runs the same way, one five-day epoch after another.

Cardano's token is named after Ada Lovelace (1815–1852), the mathematician widely credited with writing the first computer program.

Its smallest unit is a lovelace: one million per $ADA.

A fitting name for a blockchain that puts math first.
