AI is becoming a defining capability of digital economies. The question is who has the capacity to build with it.

Cassava Technologies and Vodafone Business are bringing Egypt’s first sovereign AI Factory to market, giving organisations and government entities access to advanced NVIDIA-powered infrastructure and GPU-as-a-Service, hosted locally in Egypt.

This gives organisations the ability to develop, train and deploy AI applications at scale, while maintaining greater control over where data is hosted and processed.

More importantly, it creates an environment where businesses, government and developers can build AI capabilities locally, supporting innovation, skills development and new applications shaped around local needs.

As the first preferred NVIDIA Cloud Partner in Africa, Cassava is extending its AI Factory model into Egypt, connecting local AI capabilities to a global technology ecosystem.

Africa’s digital infrastructure opportunity won’t be unlocked by local demand alone.

The continent needs to build for its own digital economy, but the scale of investment required means Africa also needs to attract global workloads.

That means creating the conditions for international investors and hyperscalers to choose Africa: competitive energy, reliable infrastructure, clear regulation and growing AI demand. Government can help catalyse that demand through workloads in areas such as education, healthcare, defence and financial services.

As Adil El Youssefi, SVP: Global Head Co-Location, put it during the keynote panel at ITW today: “The opportunity is not simply to build more infrastructure, but to create a globally competitive digital ecosystem that attracts the capital and workloads needed to scale it."

Africa’s AI ambitions need sovereign infrastructure to match.

Cassava Technologies further strengthens Africa's digital infrastructure by adding Egypt's largest data centre and the first sovereign AI Factory, in partnership with @Elsewedy Electric and @Vodafone Business Egypt, bringing together two initiatives that are part of a much bigger vision to be the leading digital solutions provider in our chosen markets.

We are building Egypt’s first sovereign AI Factory and the second for Africa. We’re bringing 20MW of capacity, with a pathway to scale to around 200MW. As our President & Group CEO, Hardy Pemhiwa explains, “Africa currently holds less than 1% of the world's data centre capacity. I don't see that as a limitation. I see it as the opportunity.”

This is about more than compute. Locally hosted AI infrastructure gives organisations greater control over their data, supports regulatory requirements, strengthens cyber security and creates the capacity to develop and deploy AI applications at scale.

The two initiatives are complementary: the data centre provides the essential infrastructure foundation, while the AI Factory puts that capacity to work, creating a platform for innovation, investment and regional growth.

Egypt is an important part of that vision, with the potential to become a regional hub for data, cloud and AI serving Africa and the Middle East.

Digital growth is no longer just about connecting more people and markets. It’s about building the capacity for ecosystems and economies to grow.

That means making smarter decisions about how networks are connected and routed, where AI is deployed, which cyber security measures are utilised and what it will take to deliver digital ecosystems at scale.

At ITW Africa, Cassava Technologies will be contributing to those conversations across the programme:

The AI cloud market is changing and a new generation of providers is emerging.

During its Q2 FY27 financial results, NVIDIA highlighted the growth of neoclouds around the world, naming Cassava Technologies as the only neocloud for NVIDIA  in Africa.

From Armenia and Taiwan to India, Australia, Malaysia - and across Africa - these providers are combining local infrastructure and operating expertise with accelerated computing platforms to expand access to AI at scale.

For Cassava, it reinforces the direction we're taking: building the AI infrastructure, cloud platforms and local capabilities needed to support organisations developing and deploying AI.

The next generation of AI cloud is being built globally. Cassava is helping build it.
