Buying or selling on Facebook Marketplace this holiday season?
Here are two scams our Risk team is seeing right now:
1️⃣ “Your payment is on hold.” A buyer says you need to pay to upgrade to a business account before you can get paid, then sends you to a fake “support” number that asks you to share your screen.
👉 You should never have to pay to get paid!
2️⃣ “This is Officer ___, there’s a warrant for your arrest.” A caller pretending to be law enforcement says you or a loved one will go to jail unless you pay right away by P2P transfer, payment link, or cash deposit.
👉 Hang up, and call the agency back on its official number!
Protect yourself:
✅ Only use Pay Anyone with people you know
✅ Never share your screen or personal information with someone who contacted you
