A man once ate nothing but potatoes for 365 days straight, and the results were shocking.

He dropped 115 lbs., got off his antidepressants, and reversed his horrible blood work.

I know this is an anecdote, but potatoes are still one of the best foods if you're trying to get lean and lose weight because they help you feel fuller on fewer calories.

They also have nutrients like potassium, magnesium, iron, and vitamins C and B.

They're also a form of resistant starch, which has been shown to help remove visceral fat and support gut health and insulin sensitivity.

When this man only ate potatoes, he found that he largely eliminated his food addiction.

I'm not saying you should eat only potatoes to get healthy.

The key is that potatoes can be a great tool if you're trying to get healthy and lose weight.

A POTATO IS NOT A HEALTH FOOD

WebMD says potatoes, popcorn, peanut butter and dark chocolate are "treats" that aren't unhealthy.

A 100-gram baked russet potato, skin and all, has 21.4 grams of carbs and only 2.3 grams of fiber. That's starch your body turns directly into blood sugar, which spikes your insulin. It also has just 2.6 grams of protein.

If you've got insulin resistance, pre-diabetes or a big belly, the potato is not your friend. Eat meat and eggs and skip the treats.

The most underrated fruit on the planet is the golden kiwi.

A single kiwi provides 80% of your average daily vitamin C needs while giving you potassium, copper, vitamin K, folate, and vitamin E, all while being high in fiber and low in calories.

If you eat the skin, it can increase fiber by 50%, boost folate by 32%, and raise vitamin E by 34%.

I aim for one a day and try to time them right before my workouts.
