At the closing of the Commonwealth Youth Forum at #CHOGM2026, Deputy Secretary-General (Corporate) Tania Baumann reaffirmed the importance of young people having a meaningful influence on decision-making.

More than 300 young leaders from across the Commonwealth’s five regions came together to develop key recommendations for Heads of Government on youth employment, climate action, mental health, digital inclusion and meaningful youth participation in decision-making.

Our acting Senior Director Jennifer Namgyal addressed the Foreign Ministers Round Table with Associated Organisations yesterday, stating:

“No single organisation, however well-funded, can hope to pursue efforts in the entire range of activities across countries. And that is why the complementarity in our strengths and areas of work becomes very important.”

She highlighted that our new Strategic Plan “prioritises working with partners” to deliver better for member countries.

The historic adoption of the Disabilities Action Plan by Commonwealth leaders at #CHOGM2026 reflects the genuine partnership between governments, organisations representing persons with disabilities and the Commonwealth Secretariat.

Across the Commonwealth, we find initiatives that are advancing the inclusion and mainstreaming of persons with disabilities through allocation of resources, improving accessibility, economic empowerment, use of technologies & access to assistive devices and para sports.
