Until the Russian/ Chinese coup gets truly understood, Trump and his authoritarian cult of devotees understand brainwashing and mind control and are fully “deprogrammed” (dislike this term but it is the only word people believe), it is right to distrust. Of course, all criminals should be held accountable and the Federalist Society ( Opus Dei) Supreme Court appointees impeached, it is still early to trust.

People can and do wake up from authoritarian cults.

I know because it happened to me!!

After the midterms, many people may be at a point where their own values and authentic selves begin to surface. They may start asking questions: "Can I trust Trump ever again?" & "Why does he seem focused on himself while so many people are struggling?" or the "belief bubble" just bursts.

If you have loved ones or community members who are questioning what they’ve been seeing, this is an opportunity to reach out with warmth and compassion.

Don’t attack them or try to force them to tell you what you want to hear. Ask open-ended, respectful questions, like: “How are you feeling?” “What do you think about the elections?” Then listen carefully, practice active listening, and help create space for them to reality-test their beliefs.

I’ve been teaching these communication approaches for many decades. I know they can make a positive difference!! People can reconnect with their values and find their own way out of authoritarian influence.

We need a vision for working together toward the future of America, and that begins with respectful conversations and human connection.
