One year ago, the FDNY lost Paramedic Salih A. Abdur-Rahman, of Station 16. Paramedic Abdur-Rahman died on Oct. 29, 2025, after finishing a shift at the FDNY Fire Academy on Randall's Island. He was 46 years old.
On Saturday, Fire Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore, Chief of Department John Esposito and FDNY members gathered to honor his memory at a plaque dedication at the Fire Academy.
"Salih lived his life in service of others. He answered the call, helping people in their most desperate, vulnerable moments," Commissioner Bonsignore said. "We know today is not easy. We stand with you, and we always will."
Paramedic Abdur-Rahman was a 23-year veteran of the Department and is the 1,162nd member of the FDNY to die in the line of duty.
