📢📣📢How to save bowl season: move it to the spring.

Every FBS team goes. 68 Bowls.
Two teams, 2 joint practices, 2 days of festivities, 1 spring game.

Boise State vs. Miami (OH) at the Sun Bowl in April.

Fans win. Players win. TV wins.

We’ve discussed the decline of mid-tier bowl games for a while. As the bowl system inevitably shrinks, wouldn’t a 24-team CFP make the postseason more important by raising the stakes for more teams that would otherwise be in bowl games with no stakes?

Three things I would put in your end-of-half / end-of-game sheet:

1.The ask goes to the referee, not the booth. Framed as elapsed time, not as a challenge. A challenge of a non-reviewable decision burns a timeout, and the referee’s 3-2-2-c call is not reviewable.
2.Know which door you’re youre knocking on before you argue. Clock ran when it should have stopped, or operator lag, that’s 3-2-2-b and the referee. When did the ball become dead, that’s 12-3-6-d and the booth, with the three-second floor live only if the play ended inbounds.
3.Hold a timeout for exactly this. 12-3-6-d-2 preserves restoration at one or two seconds only if Team A has a timeout, and that is the single mechanism in the book that converts a dead half into a live one.

I’d expect a memo clarifying the boundary between 3-2-2-c and 12-3-6-d before the committee touches the text.
