Disclosure: When I use the term “YIMBY,” I’m using it as a term of art (“Yes In My Backyard”), not as shorthand for California YIMBY.
I’m a big fan of CA YIMBY and the hard work their team does advancing pro-housing policy across California. They have been one of the most effective housing organizations in the state.
When I say “YIMBY,” I’m generally referring to the broader coalition of people who believe more housing should be built: advocates, organizers, academics, elected officials, developers, renters, homeowners, and everyday supporters. Some are deeply versed in housing policy, others are simply people who recognize that we need more homes.
Also, for the record, I am not the YIMBY. As this photo clearly demonstrates, the bee already has that job. 🐝🏠🤣
