Last week at the UN Working Group’s session in Geneva, HelpAge campaigners joined civil society organisations to call for older people’s voices to be heard in shaping a future convention on their rights.

Their statements highlighted the importance of meaningful participation.

Day 2 in Hangzhou focused on practical responses to population ageing, from income security and AI to long-term care and age-friendly communities.

The key takeaway? Progress depends on collaboration across sectors, with older people at the centre.

HelpAge’s delegation is in Geneva for the UN Working Group’s second session on older people’s rights. Alongside GAROP, we joined civil society meetings, a dialogue with UN representatives and campaigners, and called for older people to help shape a future convention.
