More local bars need to follow the Richmond Bar Association’s lead and actively get the word out when seeking candidates for local district and circuit court vacancies. Transparency and broad outreach are so important for finding the best judicial candidates!

I am deeply saddened by the passing of former Senator Janet Howell. Janet represented part of Arlington for many years, and I was fortunate to work alongside her on legislation and attend countless community events.

I learned so much from Janet over the years and often turned to her for advice. As the first woman to chair the Senate Finance Committee, she was a trailblazer whose leadership shaped Virginia for generations. She was a tireless advocate for expanding access to health care, improving the lives of people with disabilities, and standing up for those whose voices too often went unheard. She fiercely loved her community and our Commonwealth, and Virginia is a better place because of her service.

My thoughts are with her family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched. Her legacy will endure, and she will be greatly missed.
