So you wanted Brad Park to get thrown out as the third man in during the first period of the seventh game of a Stanley Cup semifinal series? Schultz somewhat brilliantly planned the whole thing out, going after Rolfe with Park and the GAG Line on the ice. Emile Francis told me years later that Vic Hadfield was playing hurt (I think it was his thumb) and that his effectiveness was severely compromised to the point where, according to Francis, Hadfield should have been the one to jump in. Between that, and chuckling in the penalty box serving the bench minor in the final minute of the game with the Rangers down a goal, that turned out to be Hadfield’s final game as a Ranger. By the way, the game was scoreless when the fight took place, and afterwards, Billy Fairbairn scored the first goal of the game to give the Rangers the lead. The effect of the fight might have been somewhat overstated.

Darn tootin. Almost impossibly, a somewhat underrated Hall of Famer.
