Hm. X says my account is based in Malaysia. I was recently on a cruise from Tokyo to Bangkok with shipboard wifi provided by Starlink. I logged into X ONCE (on the South China Sea between Hong Kong and Taiwan), 100s of miles from Malaysia. Methinks the algorithm needs more work.

A thoughtful perspective on importance of government-supported research infrastructure. It's not perfect, and could use reform. But you can't reform something that disappeared due to lack of funding for labs, support staff, equipment and office space.
