Reminder for when you see Ant valuation rumors in the press:

A typical healthy tech IPO starts with an initial valuation range, prices above the range, then trades up 15-20%.

@bgurley and I may not like it, but that's how it works.

So if bankers think Ant will trade at 1.5T, a reasonable initial range is, say 1.1-1.2T.

Then the IPO might price at 1.3 and the stock will then trade to 1.5T (+15%) on day one.

I have a hunch that many reporters don't differentiate between the various numbers when they write articles, so you'll see breathless reports that Ant has "cut" its valuation expectations that may just reflect normal IPO dealmaking.
