Senator Jerry Moran

I have long supported voter ID requirements for federal elections, which is why I cosponsored the SAVE Act to make certain only U.S. citizens are voting in federal elections.

It was great to host @USDASDuffey in Wichita today to showcase Kansas’ capabilities in advanced defense engineering and manufacturing at the @WichitaState National Institute for Aviation Research. The critical work happening at NIAR is helping extend the capabilities of aging military aircraft like the B-1 bomber. Keeping our capabilities operational and mission-ready helps bolster America’s military preparedness and supports the men and women of our armed forces. As a senior defense appropriator, I remain committed to strengthening our national security, supporting NIAR's efforts and working with Under Secretary Duffey and the leadership at @DeptofWar to equip our military with the tools to protect our nation.

Thank you to Under Secretary Duffey for accepting my invitation to visit Kansas and for his commitment to strengthening our national security.

It was great to welcome the new Commanding General of the 1st Infantry Division at @FortRiley, Brigadier General Kevin Williams, to Kansas during the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce’s military relations luncheon. Kansans understand the importance of supporting our military, and the partnership with the community is a source of strength for Fort Riley, our soldiers and their families. As a senior defense appropriator, I look forward to working closely with Brigadier General Williams to make certain the “Big Red One” has the resources needed to fulfill its mission and support the families of our soldiers.

Thank you to the Manhattan Chamber for hosting this event. Special thank you as well to Brigadier General Williams and his family for their willingness to serve Kansas and our nation through this role.

I always go home on election day to remind myself where I come from.

Wallace County was the final stop on my 2026 tour of all 105 Kansas counties, and I appreciated a warm welcome from the folks in Sharon Springs. While in western Kansas, I also met with residents in Syracuse, Tribune and Johnson City. From the Farmers Union Agency in Hamilton County to the Wholly Cow Café in Stanton County to the hospital in Greeley County, these conversations with Kansans – hearing their ideas, challenges, successes and concerns – help inform my work in Washington.

I am grateful for the hospitality extended to me by small businesses, rural hospitals and health centers, civic organizations, veterans’ groups, schools and farms all across Kansas’ 105 counties. I always came away from our discussions with a better understanding of the needs of our state.
