The only person I can control - the only person who can make sure I’m living an integrated and holy life is me. Relying on God’s grace and ALL his gifts for sure - but no one else can do this for me but me.

I’m honored to be the opening plenary speaker at the North American Association of Christians in Social Work (NACSW) 76th Annual Convention in Glendale, California, this Thursday, November 5.

This year’s theme, “Emboldened: Strengthening Faithful Practice for Tomorrow’s Challenges,” speaks to something I deeply believe: we are called to bring faith, compassion, courage, and hope into the places where people are hurting.

We’ll spend a special evening together as we celebrate the important work of those serving individuals, families, and communities. I’ll be sharing from my heart about mental health, the power of community, and why creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and loved matters so much.

And there’s even more! The APU Gospel Choir will be joining us for a special musical appearance! 🎶

The best part? This evening is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!

📅 Thursday, November 5, 2026

Whether you're a social worker, student, church leader, mental health advocate, or simply someone who believes in the power of hope, YOU ARE WELCOME!

💔 “Everyone is carrying around grief and losses...I call them unspoken brokens.” — Ann Voskamp, bestselling author

Behind the smiles are stories untold, wounds unhealed, and prayers we struggle to put into words.

For parents navigating the challenges of mental illness with a child of any age, the grief, heartache, fear, and uncertainty can be especially difficult to express. Whether your child is young or grown, you carry burdens that others don’t see. You don’t have to carry them alone.

Join us for a special conversation with bestselling author Ann Voskamp as we explore the biblical practice of lament—bringing our grief, questions, and brokenness honestly before God.

Because faith isn’t pretending we’re okay. It’s trusting God enough to meet us in our pain.

Come as you are. There is room for your unspoken brokens here.
