I think it’s because people liked the music from Chloe x Halle. The songs were great, the performances were incredible, and people were fans—but her solo music is different and people want that artist back

What I find interesting about all the Chloe criticism (whether valid or hateful) is that there’s a subtext of the criticism which is a really strong desire to want to like her music and be a fan.

That subtext has been persistent now for years and I haven’t seen anything like it.
