Everyday necessities are less expensive when the government lifts its chokehold on production.  While the CAFE reset furthers this goal for automobiles, more work must be done, starting with my legislation to permanently end a statutory program that has increased new vehicle costs and reduced auto manufacturing jobs.

Historic wildfires continue to threaten Idaho's communities, landscapes and natural resources. Several years ago, I teamed up with Senator @RonWyden to pass a landmark, bipartisan wildfire funding fix designed to end the damaging practice of "fire borrowing." This crucial measure helps prevent federal agencies from diverting essential land management and wildfire prevention funding to cover emergency firefighting costs. With the Fix set to expire in 2027, I am engaged in bipartisan discussions with @SenJeffMerkley and colleagues about its reauthorization.
