Gov. Kathy Hochul secured a dominating victory to win reelection, defeating Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman.

The Associated Press called the race immediately as polls closed at 9 p.m., drawing a sharp contrast to Hochul’s narrow 6-point victory over Lee Zeldin four years ago. Hochul secured nearly 60% of the statewide vote, fueled by massive margins in populous blue strongholds, including a whopping 83% in the Bronx.

In a major blow to the GOP ticket, Blakeman failed to carry his own home turf of Nassau County, where he currently serves as county executive.

Notice the construction around the Lincoln Tunnel and Dyer Avenue? That’s the new $11 billion Port Authority Bus Terminal taking shape.

Steel girders are going up to create “deckovers” above the expressways, which will open up three-and-a-half acres of new public green space for the neighborhood. An interim terminal will open in 2030, with the final hub following in 2035.
