A statement from @PBSUtah management.

PBS Utah is an editorially independent public media station with a mission of providing enriching, entertaining, and informative programming that fosters a deeper understanding of the world.

We strongly disagree with Twitter’s labeling of PBS and other public media as “government-funded media.” At best, Twitter’s simplistic label leaves the inaccurate impression that PBS is wholly funded by the federal government. At worst, this term is used to imply government-controlled media.

PBS Utah values transparency as much as our editorial independence. We invite those with questions about our funding to visit https://www.pbsutah.org/about/public-documents/ to learn more. You can also learn more about our editorial guidelines at https://www.pbs.org/standards/

You may not see as much activity from PBS Utah here as we continue to monitor Twitter’s application of this label and reevaluate our presence on the platform with a focus on how we can best serve Utah.
