Charlotte fought off FOUR match points in the FIFTH SET to win their first-ever volleyball state title! Couldn’t possibly be more fitting than to see Savannah Massolio serving it and Sammy Vega driving (tapping?) it home for the winner!
The good people at Springfield National Airport thought there was gonna be an incident when I started yelling, lol.
Congrats to Tom Massolio (what a household!), congrats Michelle Dill (quite possibly the most deserving coach in any sport I know), congrats to the Charlotte Tarpons!
Perhaps few people saw this coming. Looking back over the years at how these Tarpons would grind out long points, frustrate opponents by keeping play alive in a stunning array of impossible ways, looking on in awe at their sheer grit and scar tissue, at their indomitable spirit and their unrivaled chemistry …. CHARLOTTE WAS INEVITABLE!
