Models improving and editing models directly in weight space - wild! Exciting work from my colleagues at MIT…opening interesting new possibilities
Rikiya Takehi @rikiyatakehi 5d
We asked GPT-6 Astra to edit Qwen3.5-0.8B weights to improve math.
It directly changed only 0.016% of weights, fixing 0.8B's reasoning loops & improving math up to 6x and even instruction following 3x, without gradients or training.

We call this Weight-Space Programming: frontier LLMs can now natively read/write neural network weights! 🧵

Wonderful welcome to Cambridge, Massachusetts @ycombinator @agupta - let’s partner on some events if you’re up for it!

Cambridge has always been the best place in the world to be an academic researcher. These days, a lot of cutting edge research also happens in industry, and Cambridge is the home to many amazing research startups, spanning AI research, robotics, biotech, defense, and industrials.

We'd love for these two worlds to meet eachother, so we're bringing YC Paper Club to Cambridge!

if you're a researcher in industry or academia, request a spot below.
