Great news for Washington's Ninth District. Today, the House of Representatives passed a package that will deliver $6,316,000 in community project funds back to our community in WA-09.

These Community Project Funding investments reflect what our communities are asking for — cleaner water, safer neighborhoods, and more opportunities for young people to succeed. I will continue fighting to ensure federal resources are directed where they can make the greatest local impact.

Last week, ICE extended a new 10-year contract to the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, Washington. This contract was given to the GEO Group, who is profiting off the detention of immigrants in our community. Every detainee deserves the dignity of medical care, basic safety, and hygiene, rather than being a tool to make the wealthy richer.

There’s no doubt that President Trump’s reckless wars have increased prices here at home. Last month, fuel used to heat homes jumped over 15%, risking higher bills as we head into the winter months. We need to stop the fighting abroad to lower costs for American families.

Open enrollment began on Sunday and is running through January 15, 2027. President Trump and Congressional Republicans have driven up health care costs through the Big Beautiful Bill, making it increasingly difficult to afford health coverage. Election Day is here and casting your ballot is one of the great privileges of our democracy. Thousands of Americans fought to bring equal voting rights to the whole electorate in this country, and I hope you all exercise your civic duty and make your voice heard.
