Four times, the people of Maine’s 2nd District chose me to represent them in Congress. I know what an incredible honor it is to earn their trust. For their faith, I will always be thankful.

I also know a thing or two about winning in tough circumstances. So, I know you have to tip your hat to Paul LePage for winning in the midst of this Blue Tsunami. I stand ready to work with him to ensure the smooth transition that Mainers deserve.

Drive, walk, bike, or take a boat — however you get to the polls today, make sure you vote!

Maine has same-day voter registration and one of the highest voter participation rates in the country. If you haven’t voted already, don’t be left out.

For 250 years, we’ve built our naval fleet right here in America at shipyards like Bath Iron Works — providing for our defense and reaping the benefits of jobs and innovation.

Now, the Trump administration wants to buy ships made by foreign labor in foreign shipyards, undermining American jobs and our national security.

That’s not putting America first. So earlier this year, I wrote an amendment to the annual defense bill blocking the Pentagon from spending money on foreign-built ships. The House passed my amendment, but the Senate appears set to greenlight the offshoring of some fleet construction.

We still have time to get this right. I’m working to ensure my amendment is included in any final defense bill, and will keep fighting to protect our centuries-old tradition of American shipbuilding.

Good news: Momentum is building for protecting Maine’s lobstermen and our fishing heritage.

I’m grateful for the partnership of @SenatorCollins, @SenAngusKing and @SenTedCruz in getting my bill a markup in the Senate Commerce Committee.

Thank you @SenTedCruz for your commitment to advance the Northeast Lobsterman Protection Act when the Senate returns in November.

@RepGolden's bipartisan legislation – which would extend the current pause on new North Atlantic right whale regulations through 2035 – is vital to protecting the lobster industry, which supports $2 billion in annual economic activity and more than 17,500 jobs.

@SenAngusKing and I wrote to Senator Cruz in September asking for his help moving this bill through committee.
