I represent Colorado’s Third District, and I will always put our communities first.

When I took office, I swore an oath to the Constitution and to the people I serve. Every vote I cast is guided by what is best for this district and the long-term strength of our country.

Leadership requires independent judgment and the willingness to stand on principle.

My focus remains on delivering results for rural Colorado:

• Strengthening American energy production
• Supporting our farmers and ranchers
• Restoring fiscal discipline
• Protecting our water resources
• Backing our veterans and law enforcement

That’s the job I was elected to do — and I’ll keep doing it with conviction, optimism, and a deep gratitude for the people I serve.

Thursday, I joined @SenatorBennet and @SenatorHick in Conejos County to visit Manassa and Guadalupe, see the flood damage firsthand, and hear directly from the families and local leaders dealing with the aftermath.

The damage is significant. Homes, businesses, roads, and critical infrastructure have been hit hard, with preliminary estimates approaching $6 million even before the second round of storms. In Antonito, residents are facing concerns about contaminated drinking water. Damage to County Road 15 is also creating serious challenges for local farmers and ranchers who depend on that route.

I’m grateful to the Conejos County commissioners, Sheriff Garth Crowther, Emergency Management Coordinator Rodney King, and Manassa Mayor Dan Bond for their leadership during this difficult time.

For these rural communities, recovery means more than repairing roads and buildings. It means making sure families have safe drinking water, farmers and ranchers can get back to work, and communities have what they need to rebuild.

I’m committed to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle and our local, state, and federal partners to make sure Conejos County gets the help it needs. I’ll keep showing up, listening, and doing the work until these communities are back on their feet.

You can see photos of flood damage and read the numbers in a report. It is different to stand with families and local officials and see what recovery actually looks like for them.

On Thursday, @SenatorBennet, @SenatorHick, and I visited Conejos and Rio Grande counties, including stops in Guadalupe and South Fork, to see the damage firsthand and hear directly from the people dealing with it.

Homes, roads, farms, and local infrastructure have all been hit. We’re working together to support Colorado’s request for federal disaster assistance, push for a quick federal response, and make sure the needs of these communities are reflected as damage assessments continue.

Thanks to Denver7 for coming along and telling their stories.

The flooding across Southwest Colorado and the San Luis Valley has damaged homes, washed out roads and bridges, and disrupted communities across the region.

Senator Hickenlooper and I led a bipartisan letter from Colorado’s congressional delegation urging President Trump to quickly approve Governor Polis’ request for a Major Disaster Declaration.

Nearly $27 million in preliminary FEMA-eligible public infrastructure damage has already been identified in Archuleta and Rio Grande counties alone, and assessments are continuing.

Disaster recovery is not a partisan issue. Our communities need help repairing critical infrastructure and beginning the long work of recovery.

I’m grateful to our delegation for standing together, and I’ll keep working to make sure Western and Southern Colorado get the federal support they need.

I’m in the San Luis Valley today seeing flood damage firsthand and meeting with the local leaders and emergency officials responding on the ground.

Tomorrow, I’ll continue assessing damage in Archuleta and La Plata counties. My focus is making sure these communities have a strong partner in the federal government as recovery moves forward.
