What I saw today in Newark is a scene I never imagined experiencing in my lifetime. But I refuse to believe today reflects who we are as a country. We must all commit to correcting the course our country is on. Standing side by side, I know we can achieve those better tomorrows - together.

This vile and racist display at a Diwali celebration stands against everything the festival represents: unity, the victory of good over evil, and the triumph of knowledge over ignorance.

We must unequivocally condemn this hate, stand with those targeted, and ensure that light always prevails over darkness.
