November is National Adoption Month! For me, this month is deeply personal. I would not be where I am today without the gift of adoption. I know firsthand the difference a loving family can make. My parents gave me a foundation for a lifetime of opportunity, and I will never stop being grateful for the gift they gave me. This National Adoption Month, join me in recognizing the birth mothers who make courageous and deeply personal decisions, the adoptive parents who open their hearts and homes, the foster families who provide care and stability, and the dedicated professionals and volunteers who work every day on behalf of vulnerable children.

As of today, my office has returned over $3 million to residents of Virginia’s First District through assistance with the IRS, Social Security Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and other federal agencies. Access to quality mental health care is essential to building healthier, stronger communities. I was pleased to join Colonial Behavioral Health to celebrate the opening of its new Center for Support & Wellness in Williamsburg, which will provide critical resources to Virginians experiencing behavioral health crises.

I was proud to join the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Colonial Behavioral Health’s new facility, which will expand access to comprehensive health care services for Virginians. I secured $2 million in federal funding to support expansion projects and help ensure more than 3,500 individuals served annually by Colonial Behavioral Health have access to the quality mental health services.
