Ambassador @martin_ngoga met with the Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, Ambassador Fu Cong.

Discussions centered 🇷🇼Rwanda’s incoming Chairmanship of the G77 + China.

Today, 🇷🇼Rwanda voted in the @UN General Assembly election of members of the International Court of Justice @CIJ_ICJ.

We congratulate the 5 newly elected judges from 🇰🇪 🇯🇴 🇫🇷 🇸🇬 🇬🇧 and look forward to the Court’s continued work in upholding international law.

🎙️”After more than three decades of international judicial engagement, we have reached a point where the future of the Mechanism and the preservation of its legacy must be settled.

The decisions taken now will have consequences long after the institution itself has closed.

Rwanda sincerely hopes that the Security Council and the General Assembly will listen to the wishes of survivors and give due weight to the views of the country whose history archives preserve.

We hope to bring this chapter of international justice to a dignified and
meaningful conclusion by transferring the #ICTR archives to Rwanda, where the crimes were committed, and where the survivors live.

The Tribunal was established to serve justice. Its closure should serve that same purpose.”
