Onchain perpetual options without price oracles?

At #Devcon8, our Lead Engineer @keatingDev presented AmPO (Amortizing Perpetual Options), exploring how academic research can inform DeFi protocol design.

“Amortizing” means the claimable amount decreases over time, covering the holding cost without recurring funding payments. Full backing removes the need for margin-driven liquidations. And physical settlement and utilization-based premiums remove the need for an external price feed.

The potential extends beyond trading: protective puts could help lending protocols settle liquidations without selling collateral on the open market, while stablecoin and LST holders could buy protection against depegs.
