One keynote, dozens of breakouts, a room full of teddy bears, and one very fun party. Day 2 of ENGAGE was a day to remember in Seattle. Thank you for spending it with us 🙌 #SmartsheetENGAGE
That’s a wrap on ENGAGE 2026, and today’s breakout sessions were packed with practical ways to put AI to work across your teams. Thank you to every customer, partner, and speaker who shared what’s working, what’s shifting, and what’s next. We can’t wait to see what you build from here 💙 #SmartsheetENGAGE
Any AI can give you an answer. Where does it run the work? 🛠️ That question opened the #SmartsheetENGAGE Day 2 keynote, and Janelle Milodragovich and Chief AI Officer Drew Garner answered it by pulling more chairs up to the table for four customers who are already building. Here’s what they shared:
Start small: Will Jeffords Jeffords of Swampfox Inc keeps a RAID log current with Claude running on a schedule, then approves every suggested update in a Smartsheet triage sheet. AI proposes, humans decide.
Agents that watch: Jean-Alix Duplantier of Wizards of the Coast of the Coast built a Claude skill that checks 8,000 to 14,000 card faces per release against the print server and now runs on its own. No generative AI in the creative work, just a check that used to happen line by line.
Two weeks to 30 minutes: Matt Austermiller of Compassion International rebuilt a 35-sheet leadership timeline into three reports that refresh every morning at 8 a.m.
Precision work: Claire Williams of Vista Equity Partners runs a transfer workspace with 100+ users and 75+ automations connected to Salesforce, eFront, and ledger data. In her words, Smartsheet is not a prettier Excel.
What all four did first: decided where a human stays in charge, drew the line around what AI can touch, and put the rules in one place everyone trusts. Drew gave that job a name: the workflow architect. If you build workflows in Smartsheet, you’re already practicing for it.
Your next step, from Will: pick one thing you update all the time, build a triage sheet, and start Monday. Then join the Builders Community and find someone one day ahead of you.
