Congratulations, Macharia!

For many colorectal cancer survivors, completing treatment is only one milestone in a much longer journey.

This #ResearchWednesday, we spotlight a @StrathU study revealing the challenges that persist after cancer treatment.

Among 40 survivors who participated:

💰 83% reported lasting financial concerns.
💭 63% feared cancer recurrence.
🩺 59% experienced significant fatigue and pain.

Led by Prof. Bernhards Ogutu of CREATES and fellow researchers, the study calls for stronger survivorship care within Kenya's Universal Health Coverage system, including coordinated follow-up, psychological and nutritional support, rehabilitation and better financial protection.

Surviving cancer should not mean navigating recovery alone.

The end of treatment should mark the beginning of supported recovery, not the end of essential care.
