Excited to share our recent PNAS paper (led by @Dani_B1256): pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…, where we discovered the mechanisms governing myelin integrity during the onset of myelination. We are grateful to collaborate with Ellisman lab (UCSD), @WertLaboratory, and UTSW EM Core (1/6).
www.pnas.org Disruption to TFEB signaling and autophagy in newly formed oligodendrocytes leads to aberrant... Myelin is a defining feature of the vertebrate nervous system, yet the cellular and molecular mechanisms governing its integrity remain poorly unde...

Excited to share the preprint led by Aksheev, a super talented postdoc in lab, in tackling the most mysterious stage during oligodendrogenesis and myelination: the premyelinating oligodendrocytes (1/n).
New preprint out from Sun Lab @SunLab19 We generated new premyelinating oligodendrocyte specific Cre mouse line and show that preOLs can remain immature for upto 8days in vivo. These immature cells can also respond to changes in neuronal activity. (1/2)

Thanks for supporting our work! Image credit goes to @AksheevB who created new mouse lines to lineage trace newly formed oligodendrocytes in health and disease.

We are grateful for the support from @klingensteinorg @UTSWBrain @UTSWNews @UTSWMolBiol that allows us to create new reagents and methods to tackle important questions in the field. This recognition goes to my amazing crew members.
OBI Investigator, Lu Sun, Ph.D., was awarded a 2023 Klingenstein-Simons Fellowship in Neuroscience. The award supports Dr. Sun's research into the roles of axons in #myelination. The award is given to highly promising early career scientists. Learn more: bit.ly/3Q3W81z
