DC Defenders 2026 Coaching Staff: Coaches to Know
Defending champs return almost the entire staff for continuity & repeat vibes. Fresh off 2025 title run! 🏆🔴
Shannon Harris – Head Coach: 2025 UFL Coach of the Year. Took over as interim days before season → led DC to @TheUFL Championship. First HBCU alum to win UFL title as HC. Full-time now—expect same winning culture.
Blake Williams – Defensive Coordinator: Key to 2025 championship D. Princeton DB alum, son of Gregg Williams. NFL stops (Saints SB winner, Rams DC, etc.). Back for continuity—building another lockdown unit.
Fred Kaiss – Offensive Coordinator: 2025 UFL Assistant Coach of the Year. #1 offense in league (record passing yards). OC since 2023—schemed the title-winning attack. Veteran HBCU background keeps the offense explosive.
Jerod Kruse – Special Teams / Linebackers: 24+ years experience (NFL Chiefs/Browns, college/NAIA). 2014 GLVC Coach of the Year. ST + LB guru—adds elite special teams edge & development.
Vernon Dean – Defensive Backs: 2× Super Bowl champ player (Redskins). NFL DB coach (Chiefs). With DC since early days—turns out All-UFL/NFL-caliber secondaries year after year.
Brian Braswell – Offensive Line: 15+ years (NFL Bengals/Browns, Maryland college). Joined 2025, pass-pro specialist building pro-style lines. Yasir Durant made an NFL roster under his tutelage.
Andre Simmons – Wide Receivers: Former JUCO All-American WR. Helped craft explosive 2025 WR room (deep threats, playmakers, slots).
David Johnson – Quarterbacks Coach: 4th season with DC. Assisted Harris in 2025 title run. HS state champ coach + college QB background.
Big Three (Harris/Kaiss/Williams) locked in = rare spring league stability.View quoted post on X
