Our wins in the last month alone show that anything’s possible when you’re a Teamster.

North America’s strongest and most militant union organized thousands of new members, winning big fights against multibillion-dollar corporations and even stronger contracts.

Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien and General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman kicked off the 2026 convention of Teamsters for a Democratic Union (TDU) on Friday night in Chicago.

Every year, Teamsters from across the country come together for this convention to participate in workshops, hear from guest speakers, and discuss the biggest issues facing our union.

O’Brien stressed the importance of member collaboration and solidarity as the International Union ramps up organizing and contract enforcement efforts nationwide. He also laid out the stakes for the next UPS contract campaign.

“In less than a year, we will be launching our next contract campaign with UPS. On August 1, 2027, the real battle begins for another historic agreement,” O’Brien said. “Already, you have CEO Carol Tomé out there signaling her own greedy corporate priorities, diminishing the value of UPS part-timers. We must hold UPS accountable to all our members. The part-timers who load those trucks and keep UPS running deserve a fair share of the company’s success. In the fight ahead, we cannot be reactive. We must be on the offense for the next two years."

Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien and General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman visited Teamsters Local 743 members at Bagcraft’s manufacturing facility in Chicago. Joined by Local 743 President Debra Simmons-Peterson, O’Brien and Zuckerman toured the facility and thanked members for producing the paper packaging, foodservice products, and essential materials used every day in restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores, and businesses across North America.

From sandwich wraps and bakery bags to butcher paper and carryout packaging, Local 743 members at Bagcraft manufacture products that help power the foodservice industry and support communities nationwide.

“The products made in this plant end up in communities across the country, but none of it happens without the Teamsters on this floor,” O’Brien said. “These Teamsters show up every day, do the job right, and deserve to always be rewarded for making Bagcraft the success that it is.”
