Have you seen the September 2026 issue of The Plant Cell from American Society of Plant Biologists @ASPB and Oxford University Press @OxUniPress?! Find it here: academic.oup.com/plcell/issue/3… #PlantScience

Precise control of heading time is essential for rice adaptation and productivity. In this issue, Yu et al. reveal that OsWOX13 acts as a molecular relay between the heading integrator Ehd1 and the florigen Hd3a. Ehd1 activates OsWOX13, which in turn promotes Hd3a expression, while feedback through the interaction between OsWOX13 and Hd3a fine-tunes this response. Natural variation in OsWOX13 contributes to differences in heading time and the geographical adaptation of rice varieties. The image of rice panicles approaching maturity evokes the developmental transition governed by this regulatory pathway.
