The federal budget released today by Minister François-Philippe Champagne (@FP_Champagne) highlights the important role that talent, research and innovation play in strengthening Canada’s economy and supporting the well-being of Canadians.
Budget 2026 includes continued support for students, the federal research granting councils and efforts to attract and retain world-leading researchers. New commitments to strengthening university research commercialization and better protecting intellectual property will be important for ensuring Canadian discoveries translate into innovation that benefits Canada.
UBC looks forward to working with the federal government and our partners to build on these priorities and strengthen Canada’s research and innovation ecosystem.
