Israel's candidate for the UN audit committee (IAAC) was uncontested on a clean slate. Forcing a last-minute vote based solely on this candidate’s nationality reveals that some of our colleagues remain wedded to an ancient hatred that has infected the UN’s work for decades. After a year of working with all of you, I believe that we are better than this and ask that you demonstrate this with your vote. @AmbUNReform

The work we do here in New York, Member States and Secretariat alike, must respect the brave women and men in the field, the people they work to feed and protect, and the taxpayers who fund all of this work. Today’s vote does not honor this commitment, and the United States therefore disassociates from Cuba's election to the UN budget oversight committee (ACABQ).

After a year of historic cuts and reform, the Fifth Committee just handed a Cuban regime crony who assaulted an American diplomat a $180,000 tax-free stipend to scrutinize UN spending. The hardworking taxpayers who fund this organization deserve better. @AmbUNReform

For 15 years, the Security Council has accepted slow, incremental steps by the parties. What have they produced? No final status. No demilitarization. No Abyei Police Service. No deployment of the full authorized UN police ceiling.

UNISFA’s mandate gives the Council a chance to change this through improved benchmark language that will hold the parties and the UN accountable for real progress.

We urge the Council to support these benchmarks as the people of Abyei need results, not another mandate renewal that changes nothing. @AmbUNReform
