WHYY Union

WHYY Union understands more employers — including NPR + other public media stations — are listing salary ranges when hiring to be transparent to job-seekers.

We have asked @WHYY mgmt to do the same with our job postings, but they continue to refuse 🧵

WHYY Union is proud to announce we have officially ratified our new 3-year contract!

Here’s what we won:

✅Quicker access to health insurance
✅ 3 extra weeks of paid parental leave
✅ Increased bereavement time

.@WHYY has seen over 50% employee turnover from our first contract, and 55% of the SAG-AFTRA union has under 5 years of service to WHYY.

Mgmt has made it clear it has no intention of improving quality of life for employees.

WHYY Union refuses to remain complacent.

Why do you support the union?

This was one of the questions posed to WHYY Union members at a recent all-unit meeting. The responses are clear.

The union matters, and member support is overwhelmingly strong 🧵

Last week, WHYY Union stewards met with management to deliver proposals on benefits and compensation.

Besides a few clarifying questions, we still await their response.

There was pushback over the assertion that WHYY has a retention issue 🧵
