Very good news for GPUI. Now that Discord is adopting it, finally folks at Zed want to maintain this framework.View quoted post on X
LearnHarness: an agent harness for learning things.View quoted post on X
The goal is strong, usable understanding, with mental effort focused on direct interaction with the material rather than managing the learning process.
The best explanations and the best practice problems depend on what you already understand and how you understand it. So the agent needs a detailed picture of that understanding, continually updated as you learn.
TEACHING
1. Probe
The agent probes your understanding of everything the lesson depends on, building a detailed picture of your mental models and ways of thinking.
2. Plan
The agent reasons out the minimal dependency tree from what you already know to what you want to understand.
3. Teach
Starting from what you already understand, the agent teaches one reasoning step at a time. The aim is for each step, and eventually the goal, to feel obviously true.
At each step:
i) You predict the next move.
ii) The agent explains it.
iii) The agent checks your understanding.
Predictions and checks help surface errors and confusions immediately, so they can be resolved before later steps build on them.
PRACTICE
Following the reasoning and having the right ideas come to mind when needed are different abilities. Practice makes understanding usable by broadening and strengthening cues for recall.
Problems adapt to target what needs strengthening and to stay at an ideal difficulty level: hard enough to require real struggle, but not so hard that you can’t make progress.
When you get stuck, the agent aims to give the smallest possible hints needed to unblock your thinking without replacing it.
SHARED RECORD
Teaching sessions and imported notes are distilled into propositions and reasoning chains. This compact, persistent record is shared between teaching and practice. It renders as a graph.
APP
Subagents research, read PDFs, create diagrams and build interactive demos.
Free, open-source desktop app. Use your own keys and models. Learning records are local plain files. System prompts are visible and editable.

I grew up in Lebanon during the 2006 war. I know what it's like to live under bombardment. I know what it's like to lose your home. Twenty years later, I find myself teaching students who are going through the same nightmare, and I need your help.View quoted post on X
This semester, I taught another semester of my applied cryptography course in Lebanon, this time making it open across all universities and free of charge, which meant that we could guarantee access across diverse socioeconomic circumstances.
My students attended lectures and completed demanding coursework while living through war, displacement, constant insecurity, and the collapse of basic infrastructure. Electricity and running water were never guaranteed.
Four of these students finished my course with final averages between 85% and 98%.
These grades were earned. Both their midterm and final examinations were administered in person, on pen and paper, under the strict supervision of myself and my three former students and now teaching assistants. I personally traveled to Beirut to administer the final examination.
I am happy to share this semester's final exam itself with any professor who wishes to independently assess its difficulty. It's available here: appliedcryptography.page/final-exam/#su…
I did not lower my academic standards because my students were living through a war. I held them to rigorous standards, and they rose to meet them.
All four are now looking for opportunities to pursue graduate studies abroad. I am reaching out to my academic network, and to anyone beyond it who might be able to help.
If you are a professor, a graduate admissions committee member, a researcher, or someone with connections to a university or scholarship program, I would be grateful if you could help me identify opportunities for these students.
I am personally prepared to vouch for their academic abilities, their integrity, and their extraordinary perseverance.
I don't want anyone to admit them out of pity. I want them to have a fair opportunity to demonstrate what they can do.
I know firsthand how much of a young person's future can be stolen by war. I also know that the right opportunity, at the right moment, can change the trajectory of an entire life.
These students have already done their part. They excelled under circumstances that many of us can scarcely imagine.
If you can help, please reach out to me directly. If you know someone who might be able to help, please tag them or share this post.
I refuse to believe that young people this talented should have their futures determined by the geography of their birth or the wars they were unfortunate enough to grow up in.
