Screenshot from the AHRC news story, highlighting a quote from AHRC Executive Chair Professor Christopher Smith:

"UK arts and humanities research is vital to showing the critical role that protecting culture and cultural heritage plays in the UK’s international development agenda.

This research will protect cultural heritage at risk from climate change and natural disasters and build disaster-preparedness capacity throughout the world, as also highlighted at COP28.

Spanning a diverse range of methods, regions and disciplines, the projects come together to propose new ways to build capacity for climate action in a way that preserves indigenous knowledge and heritage practices across cultures.

AHRC is proud to work with DCMS in making the case for culture-based climate action."

These clusters will support artists and creators so they can benefit from new technologies across a wide range of platforms, and develop their innovation and business skills.

The remarkable projects made possible through our Creative Industries Clusters span sustainable fashion, game design and extended reality, and have attracted major co-investment.

They have helped solve real-world problems and they deliver commercial benefits to the UK economy in line with the Government’s Industrial Strategy.

'The importance of story skills
In a world where connections matter more than ever, I increasingly recognise story skills as essential for nurturing shared purpose, belonging and collective action. Through the art of telling, and listening to stories, we shape our emotions, decisions and relationships in subtle yet powerful ways, bridging gaps across diverse sectors – from business to culture and education.

This is where StoryArcs finds its place: an initiative rooted in collaborative, evidence-based research focused on the power of transferable story skills. Our findings reveal that the act of creating and sharing stories can transform organisational dynamics, spark meaningful change and drive lasting impact across communities.'
