Someone asked me today what's the most motivating thing I've ever read. It's this quote: "The definition of hell--on your last day on earth, the person you became met the person you could have become."

The most profound regret is not about things you did but about the things you didn’t do—the missed opportunities, the untapped talents, the unlived dreams. It serves as a powerful reminder to live fully and intentionally and to be the version you could have been if you had not been held back by fear, doubt, shame or complacency.

A hill I’m going to die on.

One of the most underrated leadership skills is awareness.

The most effective leaders are often the most aware people in the room.

They’re self-aware. They understand their strengths, blind spots, and the impact they have on others.

They’re also situationally aware. They know how to read a room. Does the group grok what they’re saying. Who’s leaning in? Who’s disengaged? What’s being said, and more importantly, what’s not?

They recognize when their message isn’t landing and have the humility to course correct.

And the more senior you are, the more critical this skill becomes. People are less likely to tell you what they really think.

Great leadership isn’t just about what you say or do. It’s about being aware of how you’re being received and knowing when to adjust.

The litmus test on how aware you are is how accurately you can answer this question:

“Do you know what people say about you when you leave the room?”

After BMC acquired BladeLogic and I became President, I inherited the Remedy business. I saw firsthand how ServiceNow used the shift from on-premise software to SaaS to disrupt incumbents like Remedy and Peregrine.

History is repeating itself. Serval is poised to do the same to ServiceNow with AI. Congrats to @jakeserval and the @getserval team!

BREAKING: Serval has raised $150M at a $3B valuation, led by @sequoia.

You were made to build things. We made it easy.

AI gave engineers the power to describe a need and ship it immediately. We’re bringing that power to teams across the enterprise.

Now, everyone from IT to HR, legal, finance, and beyond can turn plain language into secure, governed automations to tackle everything from simple service requests to complex process layers.

And word is getting out. We're grateful to serve the likes of @tryramp, @WeAreLegora, @vercel, and Fox Corporate, along with two of the Fortune 20 who joined the party in the last 6 months.

Now, we’re hiring 500+ people across every function while opening offices in New York City, London, and Austin over the next year.

Legacy software wasn’t built for the AI era. It’s Serval now.

Special thanks to @sequoia for leading the round, to @eladgil, Evantic, @firstround, @generalcatalyst, @Redpoint, and Tenacity for doubling down, and @conviction and @HeadlineVC for joining.
