so excited to chat with @gibbological about sewage as a tool to improve public health!

in the next 5-10 years, every major city will be using wastewater based epidemiology to improve lives. from covid19 to opioid addiction, the opportunities are endless in this emerging field!

i can’t emphasize this enough! but i can try... i’m many areas (like boston) the difference between exponential growth and exponential decay is a delta Rt of 0.05 that’s like testing 50% of the population daily with a test that has only 10% sensitivity.

SURVEILLANCE👏🏾TESTING👏🏾SERVES👏🏾A👏🏾DIFFERENT👏🏾PURPOSE👏🏾THAN👏🏾CLINICAL👏🏾TESTS.
One is about public health pandemic suppression; other is about clinical triage of patients.
For surveillance as @jhuber would say #FFCE is more important than LoD (frequent, fast, cheap and easy).
