Story Time:

I turn 44 on Monday, every weekend for the last 40 years there’s been a gem and mineral faire here in the town I grew up in Oregon……

When I was a child, my grandmother brought back fantastical gemstones back from living in Brazil where my grandfather was producing a movie called “The Moon Over Parador.” This started my lifelong fascination and my career actually since I spent over a decade as a crystal dealer.

So back to the story of this particular stone…..when I was 11, I took all the money I had which was around $40 I’d earn for mowing lawns and I was dropped off at this mineral show to find myself a crystal. I ended up buying a green apophyllite which is a fairly common zeolite from India and I can remember haggling with the person to get a good deal on it. It was huge and over 100 dollars retail so for $40 It was a decent bargain at the time, that was the first “serious mineral” I remember buying for myself. I still have it in my collection 33 years later.

So today I went to this mineral fair with the goal to find myself a green apophyllite and relive the scene from my childhood- the woman even asked far too much for it and I was able to haggle all the price from 50 down to 30.

When I told her the story of why I was purchasing this particular stone, she laughed and said it was meant to be.

Sometimes things really do come full circle ⭕️ circle in life, just have to keep chasing those little bits of magic. 🪄
